President Trump Signs Two Quantum Executive Orders

Today in the Oval Office, President Trump signed two Executive Orders relating to quantum research and development and cybersecurity. The first, “Ushering In the Next Frontier of Quantum Innovation,” creates a national effort to develop a quantum computer powerful enough to “initiate the era of quantum-enabled scientific discovery” and promotes the development of quantum sensors and networks. The second, “Securing the Nation Against Advanced Cryptographic Attacks,” would accelerate a nationwide migration to post-quantum cryptography. The Quantum Industry Coalition supports both Executive Orders and urges Congress to complete the reauthorization of the National Quantum Initiative.
